Shoulders Shoulders Shoulders

Strong structured shoulders, as dictated by runways are this season's it trend! Although shoulders have made an appearance in the 80s with the shoulder padded power suit, this time round, shoulders are everywhere - evening dresses, tops and tapered blazers! Exuding both strength and femininity, these exaggerated shoulders gives one a commanding look. This can only be inspirational :)

This is It

Just watched Michael Jackson's movie - This is It and enjoyed it immensely :) There is no wonder why they call him the King of Pop. From start to end, I was bopping and swaying on my seat. From the movie, you can tell that MJ was hands on and knew EXACTLY what he wanted for his concert from musical direction to stage props - he explained calmly, with such precision. And when you see the "corrected" version, you realise he was always spot on! It is clear that his dancers, musicians and crew loved and respected him.

And don't you think it's amazing how MJ could just start trends so easily. From his red jacket in "Thriller" to his diamond glove, from everything military-styled to now BALMAIN, his charm and confidence pull everything off!

Final masterpieces designed for his "This is It" tour

MJ pioneers the military look

MJ wearing women's Balmain and looking just finee

Rihanna in MJ inspired jacket

Beyonce in Balmain

Military-styled jackets are clearly now everywhere and even seen on Lindsay Lohan

Remember to catch "This is It" the movie in cinemas.. you won't regret!!

-In loving memory of the talented, kind and beautiful Michael Jackson, you will be dearly missed.

Iconic Guess Ads

We have all seen a Guess ad campaign - classy, sohpisticated, steamy and most of all, a model we can all recognise. Paul Marciano is the brains behind the company's iconic advertising, which takes its stylistic cues from the archetypal '50s sex-kitten actresses including Brigitte Bardot. He's picked up numerous awards for his campaigns - which are often shot by Ellen Von Unwerth - and has established the Guess Girl as a symbol of American pop culture. Iconic models, actresses and all-round sex-bombs have all pouted and posed for these successful Guess ad campaigns. Here are some of my favourites:

Claudia Schiffer

Josie Maran

Drew Barrymore

Anna Nicole Smith

Alessandra Ambrosio

Adriana Lima

Paris Hilton

It goes without saying that Guess has been such an influential brand in the fashion world.

Floral Comeback

Florals have always shouted 60s and 70s for me. And I guess with everything 60s and 70s, it is back in fashion right NOW! Floral prints are all over the catwalks and high streets. Here are some of the stars sporting florals for both day and night.

Taylor Swift pairs a flirty floral dress with oversized sunnies and a slouchy bag for a feminine day outfit.

Mischa Barton accessorises fine darker floral prints with bright shoes for that extra oomph!

Kimberley Stewart rocks this frock with heels, black tights and a navy cardi.

Rihanna and Kelly Osbourne in florals keep it comfy and casual in flats.

Switch dark florals from day to night with a quick change from flats to heels!

Even little Suri Cruise was spotted in florals. Must be those mary-janes giving her a bounce in her step :)

Alexander McQueen Spring 2010

Ok, think human cross peacock cross snake cross lizard and then, cross alien. Yes, I guess that should sum up Alexander McQueen's Spring 2010 collection. The prints on the dresses are amazing - some colourful and yet some kept simple in monotones. I especially like the architecture of the pieces, even though awkward - they bring out the feminity of the model. AND the SHOES - PLEASE .. GIVE ME ONE!

Play with COLOUR

Bright colours make me happy :) - here are some tips on adding colour to your fashion style. (found on shopbop)

Work a little bold colour into your look with a graphic print. Sticking with black everywhere else and mixing textures keeps this look from feeling like its trying too hard.

Break up all-over color with a waist-defining black belt. Complete the look with matte black accents.

A feminine blouse with symmetrical print (like polka dots) balances a bright structured mini effortlessly. When putting this look into action, remember to keep the rest of your accessories classic.

A bold hued shoe is a great way to get your colour fix. Lighter coloured footwear looks great with neutrals, while richly coloured shoes work best with black.

Jewel tones work best together when you juxtapose different textures. Mulberry is also a colour that can be both warm or cool, depending on how your accessorize. Turn up the heat with some lipstick and red flats.
